When it was announced earlier in the year that HMV would be going into administration, staff on the Island were keeping their fingers crossed that their branch would be saved.
Sadly, it was announced today that the Isle of Wight branch will join 36 others earmarked for closure.
The closures, which are expected to take place over the next four to six weeks, will bring total job losses to nearly 1,400 say The Telegraph.
Our thoughts are with those who will now need to find new jobs on the Island.
Update: A petition has been created to try and save the jobs of those working at Newport, Isle of Wight HMV. Details can be found here
