Curator and artist, Lauren Fry will be back at the Ryde Arts Festival next week, this time with Homegrown II (event listing).
Returning to the excellent location in the basement of The Depozitry in Ryde, the two week residency features four contemporary Island artists.
Contemporary brief for contemporary artists
Lisa Traxler, Adrienne Wroath, Steven Sales will be working together to respond to an exciting brief presented by Lauren.
The project this year is all about being a nonconformist artist. Non-conform as a site specific art installation is a non-form, it stretches beyond ‘the visible shape or configuration’ to the invisible shape of a imagined landscape. The artists will endeavour to make the viewers believe they are immersed in a fantasy space.
Extension of residency
Lisa, Adrienne and Steven will work collaboratively to create a 3D imagined landscape from paper and fabric whilst sound artist, Ergo Phizmiz will spend the time doing his magic to produce a soundtrack for the installation.
The project also features a free workshop by Ergo Phizmiz as well as evening with members of The ARC Critique Group.
Off-site in the ground of St Thomas’ Church in Ryde, Lisa Traxler and Karen Grainger will be creating an other worldly installation.
