Hospital Friends Provide Help for Stroke Victims

Thanks to George for sharing this news of more great work by the Friends of St Mary’s. In his own words. Ed

FriendsSpeech and language therapists at St Mary’s Hospital now have a bumper bundle of material to assist both adults and children, thanks to a £946 grant from the hospital’s Friends.

Many of the adults making use of the resources at the Speech and Language Department will have suffered a communication impairment as a result of a stroke or a head injury, and the children will have had some developmental problems.

Expressing her gratitude for the grant, speech and language therapist Lucy Abel said: “These latest resources, including stimulus books, will make a big difference in helping our patients. For one thing it will mean much less time taken up by us in producing things of our own. We are very satisfied customers!”
