Remember the HSE Business Support scam which took place on the Isle of Wight earlier in the year?
Well, we hear this afternoon that following an investigation by Hampshire Constabulary’s Isle of Wight Targeted Patrol Teams (TPT) and IW Volume Crime Resolution Unit (VCRU), a 34 year old man from Cowes was today charged for fraud offences.
Back at the beginning of June, along with a 26 year old woman, Howard Wolsey, of Cowes was arrested.
Today he was charged with four counts of fraud by false representation under the Fraud Act 2006 and bailed to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court next Tuesday.
Readers may remember that a company calling itself HSE Business Support had been writing to Island residents claiming that copyrighted files (music and videos) have been illegally uploaded to file sharing networks from their Internet connection and then trying to get the residents to pay the company £35.
