News reaches us that an electronics engineer who has adapted his skills for the marine industry has managed to scoop a prestigious award from the Practical Boat Owner Magazine.
Back in September, at the Southampton Boat Show, Graeme Hawksley proudly received the award for Product of the Year for his new hybrid marine engines.
The Sandown-based one man band has spent seven years developing the engines, which utilise both diesel and electrical power.
The result of his hard work are marine engines that provide clean, quiet electric drive with scope for reducing the use of fossil fuels.
All good news for the environment and another step forward for the Eco Island mission.
We spoke to Graeme this morning who was clearly chuffed with the award. He told us ….
“Everyone likes to be green, but not many people are willing to pay for it. We’ve been working hard on products that are green, but also offer many features than can justify the price on top of what any fuel savings can be achieved.”
Congratulations to Graeme, who has managed to bring more positive publicity to the Island and prove that through hard work and dedication, excellence can be acheived.
