Almost one year to the day since their East Wight candidate was announced, Reform UK has revealed their prospective parliamentary candidate for the Isle of Wight West Constituency in the next General Election.
Ian Pickering is a retired school teacher, living in Freshwater. He explains that he’s “become more and more disillusioned with the way that career politicians are running this country, both locally and nationally” and hopes to change how we are governed.
More transparency and honesty, less cronyism and nest feathering, and more consultation with the voting public over critical decisions are just some of the things that Ian is keen to see change.
He explained,
“I want to see the needs specific to our Island addressed for its residents: housing, jobs, health and dental care, education, and travel to the mainland to name just a few.
“As we move closer to a general election, we will see and hear the incumbent government making empty promises to secure another term in office. Indeed, it has already started, our Prime Minister intent on adopting many Reform UK policies and claiming them as his own. Why have they not implemented these policies over the course of the last thirteen years!”
Ian says that working alongside Sarah Morris, the candidate for Isle of Wight East, they are both committed to making the Isle of Wight a Reform UK stronghold.
