Bowel Cancer UK is inviting Isle of Wight locals to walk inside a giant inflatable bowel, when it tours the towns of Newport and Lake, to raise awareness of bowel cancer and its symptoms.
The giant inflatable bowel — measuring nineteen feet by seven feet — is an interactive experience to demonstrate the various stages of bowel cancer, raise awareness of its symptoms, the importance of taking part in screening and good bowel health.
Our roadshow gives people a chance to ask any questions, or share any worries about bowel cancer to one of our friendly and experienced staff and volunteers.

Edwards: A fun and engaging way to break the ice and start lifesaving conversation
Genevieve Edwards, Chief Executive at Bowel Cancer UK, said,
“We’re excited to kick off our 2025 UK roadshow tour on the Isle of Wight, starting important conversations about bowel cancer. Our mission is to raise awareness about the symptoms, encourage people to contact their GP if they notice any signs, and highlight the importance of bowel cancer screening for those who are eligible.
“We’re hoping our giant inflatable bowel will be a fun and engaging way to break the ice and start lifesaving conversations, so come and visit us at the first stop of our UK tour. No appointment needed—just drop by, ask questions about your bowel health, and get signposted to further support. See you inside!”

Bowel Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM)
BCAM begins in April and we are urging people across the UK to learn the signs and take action that could save lives. This year, we’re asking everyone to #PassItOn —share the symptoms, spread the message, and help save lives. Bowel cancer is the UK’s second biggest cancer killer, yet awareness of its symptoms remains dangerously low. Bringing awareness initiatives to Manchester, Portsmouth during April and then other key UK locations *selected as key areas of low testing uptake.
Encouraging Action and Early Diagnosis
Bowel cancer is treatable and curable if caught early, yet 1 in 20 people experiencing symptoms say they would not visit their GP. 30% would delay seeking help until symptoms worsened—a delay that could cost lives.
We are urging people: if something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it—get checked by a GP. And if you know someone who might not be aware of the signs, Pass It On—share the symptoms and encourage them to seek help.
Key Symptoms of Bowel Cancer

- A change in your pooing habits. You might be going more or less often, or have diarrhoea or constipation that might come and go.
- Loosing weight but you’re not sure why.
- Feeling very tired all the time but you’re not sure why.
- A pain or lump in your tummy.
