This weekend sees classic cars from all over the UK descend on the Isle of Wight for the International Charity Classic Car Show.
Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, the event is now in its 10th year.
The organisers estimate that there’ll be 16,000 – 20,000 visitors this year, quite an improvement from the 2,000 that attended the first event, ten years ago. They also pointed out that this many visitors must be good for the Island economy.
Two days of classic cars
Saturday’s show will be based down in Newport Quay, where all monies collected will be donated to St Catherine’s School in Ventnor, which specialises in teaching children with speech and language difficulties.
Moving to Ryde on Sunday
On Sunday it’s all change as the show moves to Ryde. Due to demand, it’s increased in size this year to three areas, Western and Eastern Gardens, as well as the Esplanade in Ryde.
All monies collected there will go to the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Pick of the Week for Classic Car Weekly
Classic Car Weekly has selected the Island event as their pick of the week, quite a compliment given Goodwood Revival is on this weekend.
Organiser Victor Gallucci has built up these events over the last ten years by giving emphasis to vehicles of special interest or of an unusual nature.
Over 600 vehicles are expected to take part including vintage, classic, customs and retro vehicles, as well as motorbikes and trikes.
Both shows will be free to attend and run between 11am and 5.30pm.
