The weather over the last couple of weeks has certainly had us confused as to which month we’re in.
Feeling more like the height of summer, it was not surprising that Islanders flocked to the beaches.
Here in Ventnor, youngsters hankering for a splash in the Isle of Wight shaped paddling pool were left feeling dismayed when they found that the pool was empty of water.
Details of when the council paddling pools are cleaned and filled each year is a debate that we’ve had on VB a few times before.
The tradition over past years, is that council paddling pools (Ryde, East Cowes and Ventnor) are generally cleaned out and filled with fresh water for the May half term holiday (30th May – 2nd June).
Using their noggins
On Easter Monday, Ventnor youngsters felt they couldn’t wait that long and decided to use their beach buckets to take water from the cascade to fill the pool themselves.
It raises the debate of whether the date the pools are filled by the council should be brought forward.
If this great weather continues, they’ll be plenty of demand for it over the coming weekends.
