Island Storytellers celebrate National Storytelling week with a collection of elephant stories from British Indian storyteller, Peter Chand

National Storytelling week takes place from 27th January to 4th February in 2023, and this year the Island Storytellers have invited international story teller, Peter Chand, to celebrate it with a selection of Elephant stories.

Whimsical, sensual, dark and disturbing
British Indian storyteller, Peter Chand, has bought together a collection of elephant stories that are at times whimsical and sensual, and also dark and disturbing in equal measure.

From the mighty Indra’s flying white elephant, to the moving tale of Jayamala, this is a lovely collection of Indian stories bought to you by one of Europe’s finest storytellers.

Bailey: Really looking forward to listening to his captivating stories
Island Storytellers chair, Sue Bailey, said,

“Peter is no stranger to the Island having been here as recently as 2019, telling tales on the Spoke’n’Heard stage at Rhythmtree Festival, as well as performing at one of the early Island Storytellers Festival in 2008.

“We are really looking forward to listening to his captivating stories.”

Find out what the buzz is about
Sue continued,

“If you have never been to a storytelling event before, come to this and find out what the buzz is, about this ancient but timeless skill.

“You won’t be disappointed.”
