Leading Islanders will be attending the annual Holocaust Memorial Day event at Arreton Village Hall, organised jointly by the IW Jewish Society and the Salvation Army at the end of the month.
The theme for the 2011 occasion, initiated by the United Nations, will be ‘Untold Stories’ and this will include readings by local school children about events in Rwanda, Darfur, Armenia, Cambodia, as well as the Nazi-led ‘Final Solution’.
Dignatories expected to attend include the Lord Lieutenant, High Sheriff, Chairman of IWCC and Parish Councillors.
Andrew Turner will attend if he is able to get back from Westminster in time, as well as members of IW Jewish Society and Salvation Army personnel.
