Wow what a weekend! The second Isle of Arts Festival came to an end on Sunday night with roaring laughter at the Comedy Night in the Boathouse and the festival marquee being filled with glorious sound of 100 voices in the mass choir. We have interviews and reviews of the Festival coming out soon, in the meantime here’s an update from festival organisers. Ed
Ventnor played host to a star-studded cast of artistic talent – from the Island and much further afield – last weekend.
The second Isle of Arts Festival was bigger, better, brighter than the first and there is a real sense that something new has been established on the Isle of Wight.
From Friday though ’til Sunday there were back-to-back events, some of them big, some of them small, with high-profile talents in the mix.
Thanks for support
None of this would have been possible without the support, generosity and hard work of many Island businesses, individuals and artists. Airon and Julieʼs teams at Blunt Rocks were outstanding and constantly kept each production moving smoothly forward.
We also want to thank Mayor Steve Stubbings and Ventnor Town Council and the Isle of Wight Council for facilitating us.
A team of volunteers from Ventnor and across the Island worked tirelessly over the weekend to help make the impossible possible. And we hope they had a great time in the process.
Dates set for next year
“Itʼs a privilege to be creating something that is worthwhile for Islanders and our visitors,” said Gillian Jenner on behalf of the Isle of Arts team.
“The next festival takes place across the weekend of 19-21 April 2013 – make a date in your diary. We look forwarding to seeing you next year.”
