Liberty shares this great news about Isle of Wight artist Charles Inge. Ed
Work by local artist, Charles Inge, has been selected from over 1,100 submissions to appear alongside paintings by some of Britain’s leading marine artists.
The exhibition will be on display at Mall Galleries in central London between 28 September to 8 October 2016.
Polar opposite inspirations
Charles Inge has two paintings selected. ‘Tethered Beach Hut’ was inspired by a hut on Ventnor Beach.
It was painted partly from memory and partly from old photographs. The hut itself was destroyed in a storm a few years ago which accounts for its ghost-like appearance in the painting.

‘Raft of the Migrants’ is a reworking or Gercault’s famous Raft of the Madusa and is painted in response to the Syrian migrant crisis.

Most prestigious exhibition of marine art
The Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition has come to be recognised as the most prestigious and varied exhibition of marine art in the UK.
The exhibition’s theme is the sea and everything related to it, from beaches and creeks to harbours and boats. The premier marine art exhibition in the country, it will feature over 400 works from emerging and well-established artists across a range of media, including oil painting, watercolour, pastels, prints, and sculpture. All work is available for sale, so anyone can take some of the sea home with them.
