Continuing with their catchy Isle of Wight sound, but adding more crunch and grit, Isle of Wight four-piece The Optimists release their latest single today (Friday).
Queen of Clowns was recorded at Studio 5a with Guy Page from Coach Party and reinforces The Optimists’ fusion of 90’s/00’s influences, adding a “modern Indie Rock sound, to create catchy vocal melodies and huge guitar sounds”.
Following multiple BBC Introducing features, front man Matt Read says,
“Queen of Clowns is a song that takes you back to school where you always had a Queen Bee, who I thought were surrounded by clowns.
“The new single has made us think about expanding our sound and making it more edgier whilst remaining the same commercial appeal.”
Who are The Optimists?
The band of friends formed in early 2018 with Matt Read as front man, Aaron Meakin on guitar, Henry Bolton on bass and Jacob Cass on drums.
The lads have played the Isle of Wight Festival four times in three years and thanks to their releases, Life Can Be and Chase the Sun (which were played on BBC Introducing Solent), the band have also performed on the BBC Introducing Stage in Southampton.
