Girlguiding , nationally, has a three-year partnership with Tesco’s campaign about getting young members to eat healthily – and learn more about where the food they eat comes from.
To complete challenges about food Girlguiding members are working with Tesco on the Farm to Fork trail – a free challenge for younger members, centred around healthy eating.
Girls can complete the trail in-store or in their unit with opportunities to get ‘hands on’ with tasty fruit and vegetables, learn how bread is made and sample cheeses from around the World.
‘Explore the Store’
Recently, 11th Newport Brownies undertook the Farm to Fork ‘Explore the Store’ trail at Tesco’s Ryde.
Brownie leader Clare Langley said,
“We started at the fish counter where we learnt about fish, and tried prawns. Then to the cheese counter where we tried 4 different cheeses. In the fruit section we tried coconut, pomegranate, blueberries, grapes and strawberries.
“Our host then took us through to the fridge, freezer and warehouse before leaving with a goodie bag and badge.”
