Isle of Wight CND to hold remembrance vigil for victims of war and aggression

Isle of Wight CND will be meeting at the Peace Tree at Coppins Bridge in Newport on Saturday, 10th August.

The event, scheduled for 11am, will serve to remember the victims of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima on 6th August and Nagasaki on 9th August 1945.

Silent vigil for peace
This gathering will take the form of a silent vigil.

Participants will pause to reflect on the impact of nuclear warfare and honour those who lost their lives.

A call for nuclear disarmament
Organisers stress that nuclear disarmament is at a standstill.

They urge everyone to work towards a more peaceful world and to foster a culture of peace.

Remembering all victims of war
The vigil will also remember all victims of war and aggression.

Isle of Wight CND hopes the event will inspire a commitment to peace and a rejection of violence in all forms.

Those attending are invited to join in this moment of reflection and solidarity.

Where and when
The remembrance takes place on Saturday, 10th August, at 11am, by the Peace Tree on Snooks Hill – just off Coppins Bridge roundabout, direction towards Ryde.

All are welcome to participate in this important commemoration.
