the invite is to everyone…no specific invites have gone out. However, this is a specific piece of work for Ryde and for which funding has been approved (about £27,000)and is to investigate the whole flooding issue in Ryde specifically with regard to usual flooding areas of the Strand/Monkton Street/Esplanade type areas but also to understand and address the past/present and future developments ‘further up the hill’ and… Read more »

How will the potential expansion of the Pennyfeathers / Westridge effect this as it will also no doubt add further pressure on the Culverts,brooks in the existing area?

There are two reasons for this flooding around the Strand area of Ryde, one is Southern water for taking the road water run off into their sewers cos they needed this water so the sewage plant at Apply would work effectively.The second reason is the most obvious,Ryde harbor,it was plain to see what was going to happen,the sand would build up and block the outfall from Monktonmead… Read more »

The meeting appears to be covering a wider range than just the ongoing problem of Strand flooding directly, it is looking at both the causes and effects of the waterways, floodplains in the local landscape and possible effects of future developments in the area and how this might / will affect the the infrastructure of Ryde as a whole.
