The Isle of Wight Fire Service were called out to a small fire in Grange Road, East Cowes last night.
OnTheWight reader, Marston Hillier has been in touch to let us know about the incident.
He was awoken by the smell of smoke and the crackling of fire at around 2am and says,
“I looked outside the window to find that next door’s fence was on fire. I phoned 999 and then went to make sure the neighbours were awake.
“One fire appliance attended, and it took about 50 minutes from the fire services getting there to them leaving. I phoned 999 at around 2:15am.”
It was suggested that something flammable in the shed may have reached too high a temperature, causing the fire.
Community spirit
It is comforting to hear that several residents had called the Fire Service.
Luckily no-one was hurt.
