Isle of Wight Joint Top For Beach Awards in UK

Isle of Wight Top Beach DestinationAs well as the news that Ventnor and Sandown beach have retained their Blue Flag status this year, there is further excellent news from the organisation that monitors our British beaches.

According to ENCAMS (Environmental Campaigns – best known for their Keep Britain Tidy campaign) the Isle of Wight, joint top with Torbay, is the UK destination with the most beach awards clocking up two Blue Flags and 12 Quality Coach Awards.

“Holidaying in this country is the perfect way of saving money and having a great time,” said Phil Barton, chief executive of Keep Britain Tidy, which runs Blue Flag and QCA in England.

“Whether it’s a question of variety, accessibility or value for money, enjoying our wonderful beaches is the ideal way to recharge your batteries.

“So instead of worrying about exchange rates, baggage handlers or forgetting passports, we’re urging people in England to make the most of their own magnificent coastline.”

With a hot summer predicted, looks like it could be a great years for the Isle of Wight tourism industry.

Congratulations to everyone involved in helping achieve this excellent result for the Island.
