Figures were released today (12th August) for unemployed claimants which show that 1,212 people on the Isle of Wight were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in July 2015.
Unemployment Benefit figures released by the Office for National Statistics show a decrease of 9 since June 2015, which reported 1,221 JSA claimants, and a decrease of 412 from July 2014 (1,624).
That means 1.5% of the resident Isle of Wight population aged 16-64 are persons claiming JSA – 0.5% more than the rest of the South East (1.0%), and 0.2% less than the whole of the UK (1.7%).
