Isle of Wight man to appear at Crown Court on hate crime allegations

A man has appeared in court in connection with a hate crime allegation on the Isle of Wight.

Police received a report that on the evening of 10th November this year, a man was pushed to the floor on Ryde High Street and subjected to racist abuse.

It’s alleged that the victim was then further assaulted.

Racially aggravated assault
The 23-year-old, of no fixed abode, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Crown Court
He was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court yesterday (25th November).

At the hearing, he was further remanded to appear at the Crown Court on 4th January 2022.
