Isle of Wight Marathon …. What?

blistersHow is it possible for a blooming marathon to be happening on this Island tomorrow and I don’t know about it? Not only that, but it’s the 50th anniversary of what happens to be the first marathon on the South Coast and one of toughest road events in the UK with a whopping 1500 foot ascent during the rather splendid course.

Can’t believe this one slipped by me, but thanks to Boni Face who popped round earlier and told us all about it (sooooo lovely to see you) .

Apparently he has staying with him an IOW marathon veteran who has worked her way up over the years to 2nd and 3rd places and sounds like an pretty inspirational woman. She can turn her hand to anything and do it with gusto. A woman after my own heart.

I feel inspired, but perhaps need about 365 days more training, so maybe next year you’ll get to see me in shorts and an airtex t-shirt!

Anyway, back to tomorrow …. the action kicks off at 11am at Ryde Boating Lake and I think ends up back there but not sure of times.
