In January 2025, the Prime Minister, Kier Starmer, acknowledged that Isle of Wight ferry services have ‘not been good enough’.
Now there is an opportunity for residents to share any frustrations they have with the degradation of Isle of Wight ferry services.
Prioritise spending on public transport
The Treasury have launched their latest spending consultation and OnTheWight reader, John Ash, has been in touch with news from the Transport Action Network (TAN).
TAN is calling for help to “get unaffordable roads scrapped” and suggesting people tell the Treasury not to fund expensive new roads, but instead prioritise spending on public transport and active travel.

The Treasury consultation invites stakeholders and individuals to share their views on what it should prioritise in its Spending Review in June.
This Spending Review will set spending priorities for the next few years, so now could be the time to let the Government know how increased ferry fares and a reduced ferry service affects life on the Island.
Of course, you can also comment on the Island’s bus and train services too.
