From the end of this month, the Isle of Wight’s volunteer regional representative for Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), Chani Courtney, will be stepping down from her role.
Chani has dedicated her time and energy to supporting the charity’s mission on the Island, earning praise for her sterling contributions.
A new chapter
Chani will continue to work with SAS, moving to a remote role at the charity’s headquarters. While this means the Isle of Wight needs a new volunteer regional representative, it also provides an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about the environment.
The regional rep role allows volunteers to spearhead initiatives that make a tangible difference to the Island’s beaches and communities.
Reasons to get involved
Chani shares several compelling reasons to step into this role:
- You receive full support from a national charity.
- SAS provides all the materials for its campaigns.
- Volunteers are equipped with beach cleaning kits, branded clothing, flags and other essential materials.
- You inherit useful contacts established by your predecessor.
- The role enables you to create positive environmental change in your community.
- Extensive training and support at local and national levels are offered.
- It fosters a sense of belonging and personal satisfaction.
