Isle of Wight stars in the final episode of BBC’s Antiques Road Trip

The Isle of Wight will once again take centre stage on TV screens this Friday.

The popular BBC show Antiques Road Trip wraps up its latest series with a visit to the Island, offering viewers a sun-soaked glimpse of its charm and treasures.

Exploring the Island’s antique shops
In the episode, presenters Catherine Southon and Ishy Khan crossed the Solent to explore the Island in May, a month that showed the Isle of Wight in all its spectacular beauty.

Several local antique shops are featured, including Jacks Antiques and Collectables on Union Street in Ryde. Speaking to OnTheWight, shop owners Gini and Paul Wyatt said,

“We were proud to be asked.”

Other shops that contributed to the episode include Antiek, also in Ryde, Eclectica in Cowes, and Victoria Antiques and Collectibles in Shanklin. The final stretch of the presenters’ bargain-hunting journey took them to Rattlemouse, just outside Newport.

A dinosaur adventure
The presenters didn’t just hunt for antiques. They were also treated to a fascinating dinosaur hunt at Compton Beach, guided by the renowned fossil expert Martin Simpson.

The mix of antique discoveries and natural history gave the episode a uniquely Isle of Wight flavour.

The auction awaits
After wrapping up their treasure hunt, Catherine and Ishy headed back to the mainland, with their items destined for an auction in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire.
