An Isle of Wight tax advisor has today been charged with a total of ten offences, linked to Income Tax fraud of around £100,000.
He was charged at Newport Police Station this afternoon, following an investigation by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
Arrested on 19 May
HMRC investigators arrested the man in Ryde on 19 May 2011 on suspicion of tax fraud. At that time HMRC officers searched the East Cowes property he was living in and a Ryde address.
HM Revenue & Customs spokesman Lisa Billard said:
“We will not hesitate to investigate tax fraud, which robs the UK Exchequer of public funds. Anyone with information about suspected Income Tax fraud can contact the Tax Evasion Hotline on 0800 788 887.”
The man has been released on bail until 03 February 2012 when he will appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court.
Investigations are ongoing.
No further action will be taken against a Ryde woman arrested on 19 May 2011 as part of the same investigation.
