Readers may recognise the name Simon Ledger. He’s an Isle of Wight musician who regularly gigs around the Island.
This year he decided he wanted to do something for charity and has spearheaded a project bringing together 25 Island singers/musicians to record the track at Skinny Mammoth Studios in Newport.
The purpose of the track, which is being released on Friday morning, is to raise much-needed cash for the Island’s only hospice, the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Everyone gave time for free
Everyone involved gave their time for free, including the studio and film crew. Isle of Wight College designed the CD sleeve with photography by Simon Wells.
The hosting, promotion and helpline were all also provided for free by Wight Answer and all of the money raised will go directly to the Hospice.
Let’s get it to number one!
The song has been specifically coded to be chart eligible, meaning that if enough people buy (HMV in Newport) or download it the song could actually make it into the charts.
How amazing would that be!
To get it into the top 20, at least 40,000 downloads/purchases are needed between this coming Sunday and the next.
As we’ve said, the single is being released on Friday and you’ll be able to download it from the dedicated Website, Isle of Wight Unite.
You can pre-order your copy by calling (01983) 86 10 31
