The Isle of Wight has been named the third best island in the British Isles, according to a recent poll conducted by Time Out magazine.
Jersey claimed the top spot, with the Isles of Scilly securing second place. The ranking highlights the enduring appeal of the Isle of Wight as a destination for both tourists and residents.
Festival fame and much more
Time Out acknowledged the Island’s international recognition for its annual music festival, which attracts thousands of visitors each year. However, as we all well know, the Isle of Wight offers much more than its celebrated festival.
The publication praised the Island’s diverse attractions, ranging from historic sites to unique local businesses, which collectively contribute to its charm and popularity.
What to do and see
The magazine listed St Catherine’s Oratory as the number one activity on its list of “13 Best Things to Do on the Isle of Wight.” This medieval lighthouse, affectionately known as the “Pepperpot,” is a favourite among visitors for its history and stunning views.
Other recommendations included some less obvious gems, such as Sounds and Grounds in Cowes, a coffee shop and music venue, and Babushka Books in Shanklin, a haven for book lovers.
A well-deserved recognition
Being ranked third best island in the British Isles is a testament to the Isle of Wight’s enduring appeal.
Whether visitors are drawn by its iconic festival, historic landmarks, or its welcoming local businesses, the Island continues to offer something for everyone.
