The Isle of Wight Walking Festival returns this year with some great walks planned and some exciting red hot events.
Last year 24,500 people took part in the festival during the 16 day period and organisers hope to top that this year where there will be walks for everyone, from toddlers to seasoned hikers.
The launch day of the festival is Saturday 9 May and it’s certainly starting with a bang.
New to the festival this year will be the innovative Fire Walk.
If you’ve already let you imagination take you away to a scene of someone walking across hot coals, then you’re spot on.
Organisers are asking volunteers to ‘brave the glowing embers through sheer will power and courage’. That’s all 20 feet of them (the hot coals) down at Newport Quay on the event of the festival launch.
If you like the sound of this challenge and would like to raise sponsorship at the same time, get in touch with organisers on 823070 for a sponsorship form.
We’ll be bringing you details of all the walks and talks associated with the festival nearer the time.
