As part of the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, included in the schedule is a walk to celebrate the Bi-Centenary of Alfred Lord Tennyson’s birth.
Starting at the car park by the Golf Course overlooking Freshwater Bay, the walk which is suitable for all the family starts with a Tennyson poem.
Walk leader, Chris Jarman will then guide you to the Lifeboat station, Freshwater Gap, residencies of famous Victorian figures and finishing at the Tennyson Monument.
You will also be visiting the Island home of Sir Vivian Fuchs, Dimbola, the home of Julia Margaret Cameron and Farringford – home of Tennyson.
The 3.5 mil walk should take around three hours and booking is not essential.
