Given we’re half way through November, it’s little surprise that weather warnings are starting to arrive more regularly from the Met Office.
For anyone planning to travel on Sunday, be that cross-Solent on by road, take note of this warning.
Valid from 00:05 to 15:00 on Sunday 20 November 2016:
A vigorous area of low pressure is expected to move northeast across southern Britain on Sunday. This will be accompanied by a period of heavy rain and southwesterly gales. Gusts of 45-55 mph could occur inland, particularly over Sussex and Kent, with gusts of 60-65 mph possible in exposed south coastal locations.
Please be aware of the risk of difficult driving conditions due to localised surface water flooding and possible debris from trees.
20-30 mm of rain could fall within a 6-12 hour period. Although these amounts of rain are not unusual, when combined with gales some localised impacts are expected. Conditions are expected to improve from the southwest later on Sunday.
There remains some uncertainty about the exact track of the weather system and therefore the northward extent of any impacts.
Warning valid for Medway, Greater London, Kent, Bracknell Forest, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Slough, Surrey, Windsor and Maidenhead, Southampton, West Sussex, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, Brighton and Hove, East Sussex & Wokingham.
