The Met Office have updated their weather warning for the Isle of Wight for strong winds.
The previous warning was due to start on Tuesday but now runs from 6am on Wednesday until midnight.
It reads:
After a brief lull in winds through the early hours of Wednesday, west or northwest winds are expected to increase once more during Wednesday morning, then remain strong for much of the day.
Gusts of 40-50 mph are expected widely within the warning area, but some coastal areas, especially in parts of southwest Wales and Cornwall, could see gusts above 60 mph at times. Outbreaks of heavy rain or showers will accompany the strong winds.
A swathe of strong winds potentially bringing some disruption on Wednesday.
What to expect
- Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
- Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
- Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
- Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
- It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
