Huge congratulations to Isle of Wight paralympic rower, Annie Caddick.
The 25-year-old made up one half of a team competing at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, bringing home a silver medal earlier this week.
Great Britain recorded its best ever Para Rowing performance and topped the medal table, winning with three gold medals and one silver.
Caddick: We didn’t settle, we had to keep pushing
Annie and her rowing partner Sam Murray made their ParalympicsGB debut in the PR3 Mixed double sculls (PR3 Mix 2x), making history as the first crew to win silver in this new boat class.
Annie said,
“It was such a tight race with everyone right there – the adrenaline rush the whole time was going. We didn’t settle, we had to keep pushing.
“At the end Sam said ‘we’ve got to go!’ and I felt him surge, I had to hold on and go with him.
“We’ve built trust and a bond, so no matter how bad you’re feeling – if one of us goes, we both go. Having this medal means a lot. It’s been a long journey to get here, I’m so proud of us.”
Murray: It’s quite surreal to be here
33-year-old Sam from Guildford said,
“The Paralympics wasn’t even in on my horizon, to be honest. I left rowing [in 2017 before returning in 2022], was working in London as a consultant and was quite content with where I got to.
“Only at the start of 2023 did we decide we could make a crack at this. It’s quite surreal to be here.”
Well done to them both!
