Isle of Wight care home at centre of ‘neglect’ case now upgraded as ‘Good’

An Isle of Wight care home that was heavily criticised by the Isle of Wight Coroner and rated as Inadequate last year by the CQC has today received its latest inspection report.

Waxham House care home had been criticised by the Isle of Wight coroner for ‘neglect’ following the death of resident Barbara Cooke and rated last year as Inadequate.

The case was at the centre of an expose into the state of adult social care in the UK by the Bureau for Investigative Journalism in September.

‘Good’ in all areas
The latest inspection, carried out in November 2015, has resulted in the home, owned by Mr & Mrs Ramdany being rated as ‘Good’ in all areas of care and provision.

The report reveals the home has sufficient staff to care for residents safely and staff ensured residents had the equipment and support they required.

It goes on to say that staff took care to make sure people were as comfortable as possible and received pain relief appropriately.
