List of Isle of Wight roadworks and road closures taking place week starting Monday 18th January 2016 as provided by Island Roads.
ARRETON:
A3056 Sandown Road (Merstone Lane to the western boundary of 1 Pyle Cottages) A temporary 30 mph speed restriction will be in operation when required between 6.30pm on Friday 8 January 2016 and 6.30am on Monday 1 February 2016 for safety barrier replacement by Island Roads.
Mersley Down Road (various locations from Ashey Road to 725m from Bullys Hill rolling various locations). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Thursday 28 January until Saturday 30 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
BINSTEAD:
Newnham Lane will be closed one day from 9.30am until 3.30pm between Monday 18 January and Wednesday 20 January 2016 from Newnham Road to Firestone Copse Road. The road closure is for carriageway repairs on one day during the above dates. The route for diverted traffic will be: Newnham Road, Havenstreet Main Road and Firestone Copse Road.
BRADING:
B3330 Carpenters Road (from the entrance to the pond to the entrance to sewage treatment works). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Monday 18 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
A3055 New Road (outside 56). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Wednesday 20 January and Friday 22 January 2016 for carriageway repair works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Brading Down Road (from Ashey Road to 725m from Bullys Hill rolling various locations). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Wednesday 20 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
COWES:
Newport Road will be closed from approx. 9am on Wednesday 13 January 2016 until 4pm on Thursday 24 March 2016 between Three Gates Road and Nodes Road. The road closure is for the installation of a new 450mm size water main. The route for diverted traffic will be: Three Gates Road, Place Road and Nodes Road. The works form part of a new water main project between Three Gates Road, along Newport Road to the Newport side of Northwood traffic lights.
EAST COWES:
Esplanade will be closed from 2.30pm on Friday 25 April 2014 for the foreseeable future between 375 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road and the end of the highway 860 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road. There is no alternative route for traffic. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road due to a landslip.
GODSHILL:
A3020 High Street (various locations from Hollow Lane to Church Hollow). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation on each day from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Wednesday 20 January Friday 22 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
GODSHILL:
A3020 Newport Road (between Merstone Lane and Chequers Inn Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation on one day from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Wednesday 20 January Friday 22 January 2016 for the repair / replacement of hazard Markers by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
GURNARD:
Worsley Road will be closed from 9am on Monday 4 January until 4pm on Sunday 24 January 2016 between Albert Road and Solent View Road. The closure is for the construction of a new manhole and sewer outside number 34 near the junction with Albert Road by Dial a Rod Engineering Services. The alternative route will be: The Avenue, Tilbury Road, Church Road, Lower Church Road, Solent View Road and Worsley Road.
HAVENSTREET:
Stroud Wood Road (various locations Newnham Road to Carters Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am until 4pm on Tuesday 19 February 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
LAKE:
Ranalagh Road / Cliff Road / Cliff Path. From 1200hrs on Friday 18 July 2014 for the foreseeable future the following roads / path will be closed to vehicular traffic: Cliff Road / Cliff Path will be closed from point 55 metres to the northwest of the junction with Ranalagh Road to point 185 metres to the south west of the junction with Cliff Gardens (the southern boundary of number 6). Ranalagh Road will also be closed from Cliff Road to a point 10 metres to the west of Cliff Road. During the period of closure there is no alternative route for vehicles. The closure is required due to erosion. Pedestrian access will be maintained as usual.
A3056 Newport Road (outside car sales, near Merrie Gardens). Emergency gas main repair works by Southern Gas Networks have been completed and temporary traffic lights are no longer in use.
NEWCHURCH:
Langbridge will be closed on one day from 9am until 3.30pm between Monday 18 January and until Wednesday 20 January 2016. The closure is from Knighton Lane/ Mersley Lane to the entrance to Langbridge Farm and is for carriageway repair works at the junction with Mersley Lane. The route for diverted traffic will be: Knighton Lane Knighton Shute, Mersley Down Road, Downend Road, A3056 Arreton Street and Hale Common, Watery Lane, Winford Road, High Street and The Shute.
NEWPORT:
Albany Road (various locations from near Banner Lane to Whitesmith Road, Hunnyhill Primary School to outside 59 & 65). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Monday 15 February and Friday 19 February 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Cavendish Place (various locations) Priority signing will be in operation from 8am until 4pm on each day between Monday 18 January and Friday 22 January 2016 for carriageway investigation works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
ROOKLEY:
Niton Road (from Dolcroft Road 260 metres South towards Harts Lane). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation between Wednesday 20 January and Friday 22 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
RYDE:
Great Preston Road (various locations from High Park Road to Nicholson Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 4pm on each day between Monday 25 January and Friday 29 January 2016 for footway surfacing works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Seaview Lane (outside Canoelbra). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Wednesday 20 January until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 22 January 2016 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.
Spencer Road (junction with Buckland Gardens). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8.30am on Monday 14 September 2015 until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 29 January 2016 for gas main replacement works by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.
Park Road (at the junction with Dover Street). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Wednesday 20 January and Friday 22 January 2016 for carriageway repair works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
A3054 Queens Road (outside number 20). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 12 January until 4pm on Monday 18 January 2016 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.
Esplanade (between Appley Rise and Cornwall Street). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 6.30pm until midnight on each day as necessary between Monday 18 January and Friday 22 January 2016 for carriageway survey works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Victoria Street / John Street (from West Street to Garfield Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 6.30pm until midnight on each day as necessary between Monday 25 January and Friday 29 January 2016 for carriageway survey works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Appley Lane (from Ryde Inshore Rescue Station to gate by Appley Upper Car Park). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Tuesday 2 February until 4pm on Saturday 6 February 2016 for carriageway survey works by Island Roads.

A3055 Brading Road (various locations between Great Preston Road and Tesco’s Roundabout). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Thursday 14 January and Saturday 16 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Spencer Road will be closed from 8am on Friday 22 January unit approx. 4.30pm on Friday 18 March 2016 between Buckingham Road and St Thomas Street. The route for diverted traffic will be: eastbound: Spencer Road, West Street, Lind Street and St Thomas Street and westbound; St Thomas Street, Lind Street, St Thomas Square, High Street, Garfield Road, Victoria Street, John Street and West Street. The closure is for gas main replacement works.
East Hill Road (various locations from Ampthill Road to High Park Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Wednesday 27 January and Friday 29 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Ashey Road (from 670 metres south west to 50 metres north east of the junction with East Aheyy Lane). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Tuesday 26 January and Thursday 28 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
SANDOWN:
Avenue Road (from Carter Street to St Johns Crescent). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on each day between Monday 18 January and Wednesday 20 January 2016 for the installation of a new drainage channel works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Albion Road will be closed from approx. 9am on Monday 23 November until 8am on Sunday 14 February 2016 between Albert Road and High Street. The route for diverted traffic will be: Albert Road, Victoria Road and High Street. The one way restriction will be temporarily suspended to allow access to premises. The closure is for utility service installations by LCM Contractors Ltd.
SEAVIEW:
Nettlestone Hill (approx. 185 metres North and East of Gregory Avenue and 87 metres South of Gregory Avenue). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am on Wednesday 20 January 2016 until 4pm on Friday 22 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Seaview Lane (from Nettlestone Green to Holgate Lane). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am until 4pm on Wednesday 20 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
Springvale Road (from Puckpool Hill to Oakhill Road) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am until 4pm on each day between Wednesday 20 January and Friday 22 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads by Island Roads.
Traffic delays will occur.

SHANKLIN:
Cliff Path will be closed from 9.30am on Monday 20 January 2014 for the foreseeable future to pedestrians from Skew Bridge Path to Winchester House Car Park.
The closure is required due to erosion/ land movement. During the period of closure the alternative route for pedestrians will be; Skew Bridge Path, A3055 Sandown Road and Winchester House Car Park.
A3055 North Road (junction with Arthurs Hill / Atherley Road / Hope Road) from 9am on Wednesday 13 January until approx. 4.30pm on Monday 18 January 2016. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Tuesday 12 January until 4pm on Monday 18 January 2016 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Traffic delays will occur.
Collingwood Road (various locations from Landguard Road to the end of the road 210 metres to the west of Northbourne Avenue. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am until 4pm on each day Monday 25 January until Wednesday 27 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads.Traffic delays will occur.
Spring Hill (various locations from High Street to St Boniface Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am until 4pm on each day Monday 25 January until Wednesday 27 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
ST HELENS:
A3020 Horsebridge Hill (junction with Noke Common, outside 91). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 7pm until midnight on Thursday 21 January 2016 for the replacement of a sewer manhole frame and cover by P Fitsimmons Dyno Rod for Southern Water. Traffic delays will occur.
ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton. Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians. A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation for the foreseeable future. Access to businesses and attractions in Undercliff Drive will be maintained. During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be; Pedestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Public Footpath V81, V77, NT28, NT29, NT30 and A3055 Undercliff Drive. Cyclists and Equestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Seven Sisters Road, St Lawrence Shute, Whitwell Road, Ventnor Road, High Street (Whitwell), Kemming Road, Chatfield Road, Rectory Road, High Street (Niton), Institute Hill, Barrack Shute and A3055 Undercliff Drive.
VENTNOR:
Longdown Steps Public Footpath V102 will be closed from 10am on Monday 12 May 2014 for the foreseeable future between South Street and St Catherine’s Street. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons using the footpath until wall repair works have been undertaken. The diversion route for pedestrians will be; South Street, West Street, High Street, Victoria Street, Wheelers Bay Road and St Catherine’s Street.
Castle Road (between Zig Zag Road and Gills Cliff Road) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from Tuesday 30 December 2014 until approx. 1 April 2016 until retaining wall works have been completed by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
A3055 Leeson Road (outside 36) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 18 January until approx. 4.30pm on Thursday 21 January 2016 for the installation of a new gas service gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.
Spring Hill (various locations from High Street to St Boniface Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8am until 4pm on each day Monday 25 January until Wednesday 27 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.
WHIPPINGHAM:
Public Footpath N214 will be closed from Crematorium Road to Public Footpath N114 between 9am on Wednesday 5 August 2015 and 9am on Friday 26 February 2016
The closure is required until urgent repair works have been undertaken to B171 Whippingham Cattle Creep. The alternative route for pedestrians is; Crematoriums Road, A3054 Lushington Hill, Racecourse and Fairlee Road.
WOOTTON:
A3054 Kite Hill (at Wootton Bridge). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation again from the evening on Sunday 3 January 2016 until approx. 7pm on Friday 19 February 2016 due to bridge strengthening works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur. Motorists travelling between Newport and Ryde are advised to use an alternative route, if possible during the works such as via Long Lane, The Downs Road and Ashey Road.
Mill Square will also be closed during the above dates from the South-eastern junction with A3054 High Street to a point 18 metres to the North West of A3054 High Street. The alternative route for vehicles will be; Mill Square and A3054 High Street. The road closure is necessary whilst bridge works are undertaken. The Public Slipway will be closed at Mill Square near to the South-eastern junction with A3054 High Street during the same times.
Whiterails Road (from Butterfly World to a point 461 metres to the south west). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30am on each day between Tuesday 28 January and Thursday 30 January 2016 for carriageway coring works by Island Roads. Some traffic delays may occur.
