A licensing application has been submitted to the Isle of Wight council for another major music festival.
Wow Festivals Limited is applying for a license to hold an annual live music festival half-way between Whiteley Bank and Shanklin from August 2012.
Event managers/controllers for the festival, Sigma Events Management Ltd, are applying for a capacity of 29,999 people for the world music festival.
The Directors of Sigma Events Management Ltd, who organised the former Isle of Wight Jazz Festival and Folk and Blues Festival, are also Directors of WOW Festivals Ltd.
15,000 festival-goers in first year
The Event Safety Management Plan holds a lot of the detail of how the event will be organised.
The aspirations for the festival’s success are high with the plan stating that “The minimum anticipated is 15,000 ticket holders 2012”.
5-day alcohol license
Although it describes itself as a three-day event, running 17-19th August 2012, the organisers have requested a license to supply alcohol over five days – 10am – 3:30am on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 10am-1:30am on the Sunday and 10am and 2pm on the Monday.
Camping tickets will be offered both at four days and seven days.
The festival’s Website already claims many local partnerships including, Carlsberg UK (Tuborg brand), Kawai Pianos, Southern Vectis Buses, Hovertravel, Red Funnel Ferries, Best Parties Ever, Gaymers, Eco-Island Partnership, The Music Shop IOW and Sustrans.
Full details of the application can be found online and the closing date for comments to the council is 24th August.
