If you have nothing planned for this coming Saturday night and have never seen a lutenist play live, we’d definitely recommend you check out Quay Arts.
As part of the Quay’s new season of classical music, there will be a special festive performance with John Cadman on lute and classical guitar. John will create musical magic through stunning technique and profound musicianship when he performs from a variety of musical genres including the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods.
His programme will also feature some of his own original compositions and, in addition, some contemporary music by Spanish and South American composers.
At the age of 14, his ambition to become an amateur boxer was thrown against the ropes, after watching a solo guitar recital given by the Spanish virtuoso, Andres Segovia at London’s Royal Festival Hall. When he returned home, he told his parents “My ambition is to become a Concert Guitarist”.
He went on to have a successful career as an accomplished musician and this Saturday night, you can grab the chance to him play live on the Wight.
