Thanks to Fiona for sharing details of this annual event with OnTheWight readers. Ed
The Friends of Dinosaur Isle are hosting their annual BBQ and Fossil Walk on 17th August 2013.
This year, the fossil walk has an even greater significance with the launch of Walking with Dinosaurs in December and seven different dinosaur meteorites at various locations on the Isle of Wight.
Dinosaur Island
The Island is known as the dinosaur capital of Europe and professional fossil hunters will take you on a guided walk of Yaverland beach, where one of the meteorites is located.
A journey lasting two hours will start 120 million years ago and cover 20 million years through the cretaceous period. You may even discover your own fossilised remains of the ancestors from characters in the film.
Afterwards, it will be back to Dinosaur Isle for a BBQ and chat.
