Thanks to Nat from the Isle of Wight branch of the Long Distance Walkers Association for sharing this news with OntheWight readers. Ed
We are taking part in the Country File Ramble to raise funds for Children in Need.
Our River Yar – Sea to Source walk on 11 October had been organised as an Isle of Wight Walking Festival warm up walk. However, when we heard that Countryfile were organising rambles on the weekend of 10/11 October for Children in Need we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to combine it with a fundraiser.
You can find out more about the initiative on the Countryfile and Children in Need websites.
Seven and a half hour walk
Our walk starts at St Helens old church at 9am on Sunday 11 October. The route goes through Brading and the cycle track to Godshill where we will stop for lunch.
We will then continue on the lesser used paths to finish at Niton and enjoy a well earned drink in the White Lion. The walk will take approximately seven hours and 30 minutes and cover 19 miles.
