Join the next mission for a greener Isle of Wight at TFMZ’s Open Space event

Join Together For Mission Zero next week as they welcome Islanders to another of their stimulating and informative sessions.

Together For Mission Zero Isle of Wight (TFMZ) is an initiative that unites the Island’s community to support the Isle of Wight council’s Mission Zero strategy, which aims to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

This collective effort offers residents a platform to share ideas, participate in discussions, and contribute towards creating a sustainable future for the Isle of Wight. The group has been busy organising events and working with various sectors to push this goal forward.

Three years of collaboration for a sustainable Isle of Wight
For three years, TFMZ has partnered with the Isle of Wight council, local businesses and civic organisations to boost awareness about Mission Zero and to encourage community involvement in reaching the 2040 target.

In this time, the group has hosted nine events across the Island. They have also developed expert-led hubs focusing on key areas — such as education, transport and business — to identify specific actions that reduce carbon emissions and promote a sustainable lifestyle. These hubs aim to make an impact across diverse sectors, demonstrating that Mission Zero is achievable through collaborative, practical steps.

Next meeting set for Sandown
On Wednesday 6th November, Together For Mission Zero will hold its next meeting at Brown’s Golf Course in Sandown. Scheduled from 7pm to 9.30pm, the event will feature an “Open Space” format, inviting attendees to take an active role in shaping the discussions.

Participants can share their own ideas for advancing carbon-neutral initiatives and work together on existing projects that align with Mission Zero’s vision. This gathering promises to be both engaging and forward-thinking, focusing on practical ways to create a net-zero, nature-positive, and thriving Isle of Wight.

How to get involved: Pitch an idea or reserve your space
