Josh aims to raise awareness of chronic liver disease through Marathon run

Josh has set himself the challenge of raising awareness and hopefully £2,000 for the PSC Support Charity. Ed

Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic liver disease whereby the bile ducts become narrowed from inflammation and fibrosis.

Josh Tapp:Overtime the bile ducts become blocked and cause a variety of symptoms; ultimately in some patients leading to biliary cirrhosis, portal hypertension, and liver failure.

The exact cause of PSC is currently unknown and there is no known curative treatment, or treatment which is known to slow the progression of the disease. This is why raising money and awareness of Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis is so vital.

Cause is close to my heart
My girlfriend, Maxine who has PSC, is in currently on the liver transplant list because her disease is now at the stage where her liver is starting to fail, receiving a liver transplant is the only hope she, and many other PSC patients have of becoming well again.

Maxine and her family receive enormous support from PSC Support and hopefully the money and awareness raised from this event will be of great help!
