Last chance to explore Isle of Wight music history at ‘Needles in the Groove’ exhibition

This is the final week of the AAA Records/Wight Vinyl exhibition, Needles in the Groove, at Montage Place in Ryde.

Showcasing eight decades of Isle of Wight music on vinyl, if you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, the exhibition will be open from 12pm to 4pm every day until Friday (8th December 2023).

Andy Barding from AAA Records said,

“Legendary musician Brian Sharpe from the Isle of Wight Cherokees honoured us with a unique and brilliant performance on our opening night. And he handed over a small pile of mint condition singles.

“The Sharpe & Betchley 7″ of Peaceful Easy Feeling b/w Here We Go Again showcased the duo’s talents as the Crosby and Stills (and Nash and Young) of the Island when it was released way back in (we think) 1974.”

In memory of musical friends no longer with us
Brian discovered the half-a-boxful of singles in the cupboard under his stairs.

He has generously offered for sale in aid of Mountbatten.

They’re just £10 each, so why not check out some Isle of Wight music history, and buy your own piece to keep.

All money goes straight to Mountbatten. Brian said,

“This is in memory of Graham Betchley and all my other musical friends no longer with us.”

Take cash
As well as the 80 years of Island vinyl on show, there are programmes (£5) and hand-crafted prints by Paul Armfield (£15) to buy. Montage Place can be found at The Depozitory, 23 Nelson Street, Ryde PO33 2EZ.
