Today (Friday 16th January) is the last day to have your say on the policy being set to regulate what sort of things can be placed on the streets, such as table and chairs, advertising boards, etc.
The draft policy highlights fees and charges businesses would have to pay in order to be able to place advertising boards on the street outside their shops. The same goes for tables and chairs that are placed on land owned by the Isle of Wight council.
Have your say
The 28 day public consultation comes to an end today, so if this is something you wish to comment on, you need to email [email protected] this afternoon.
Cllr Paul Fuller, Executive member for planning and licensing, said,
“This policy gives the council greater control over what items are placed on our streets. Recently we have seen an increase in businesses placing advertising boards on our streets and these can cause a hazard.
“I would encourage business owners and residents to send in their views during the consultation so these can be taken into consideration in the final policy which will subsequently go to members for approval.”
