Sir Ian Cheshire visited the Academy earlier this month as part of our Inspirational Speaker Programme.
The aim of the scheme is to raise student aspirations and for them to experience diverse, inspirational, high achieving speakers from a variety of work environments.
Stellar career
Sir Ian is the former Group Chief Executive of Kingfisher plc and is Senior Independent Director of Whitbread. He was knighted in the 2014 New Year Honours for services to business, sustainability and the environment.
Whilst at the Academy he met with a group of Year 7 students who asked him questions about working in Business and how he arrived at his chosen carer. He followed this with a Q&A session with a group of Year 10 Business Students.
Invaluable advice
He ended the morning with a talk to the Student Council. They also had the opportunity to ask him questions about careers and business. He was even able to help two students who were looking at the European Union debate as part of a My Community project.
It was an interesting morning and a great opportunity for a variety of students to speak to an industry expert about business and careers.
We look forward to inviting him back to meet with more of our students.
