Platform One College of Music have launched a new alumni series that will see graduates in full time employment return to their roots to give advice on working in the music industry.
On Friday 17th March, Caffe Isola in Newport will play host to the first of these insightful series, aimed to inspire and educate those who have an interest in various areas of the industry.
The panel
Returning to the Island include producer and writer Henri Davies, artist manager Fifi Holley, engineer and producer James Pinfield-Wells and Miloco Studios booking manager Lottie Field.
All guests have studied at Platform One and are now looking to share their experiences with other aspiring creatives.
Booth: Relatable and honest reflections
Music Industry Liaison Andy Booth said,
“This is an important part of inspiring the next generation of musicians. Whether you want to be a creator or work in the music business directly, the alumni will be able to provide relatable and honest reflections on how they gained full time employment.”
Booth: A great opportunity to discuss the numerous career pathways
With the core of the UK music industry being based in London, it is essential to recognise that all the guests have grown up and studied on the Isle of Wight prior to reaching their current roles.
“Showing that the industry is diverse, inclusive and accessible should be high on the agenda.
“This will be a great opportunity to discuss the numerous career pathways available to those who want to pursue full time work in music.”
This is the first event to be held by Platform One at Caffe Isola, who will be serving refreshments during the evening.
Andy finished by saying,
“Isola is such a great location to host our first alumni event and it is great to be supporting other local businesses in the process.”
