There is only one reason why Rishi Sunak wants to hold onto power for as long as possible, and you won’t be surprised to know that it has nothing to do with caring for our County, or its people.

According to the Guardian Newspaper, Rishi Sunak earned £2.2million, on which he paid a paltry 23% in tax. But his real wealth comes from his wife, Akshata Murty’s, shareholding in Infosys.

Share grew £108.8m in 12 months
Her shares in the firm grew in value by £108.8m to a staggering £590m in just one year, helped in no small measure by the lucrative contracts Infosys received from, yes you guessed, the British Government.

The Nations purse strings were of course held by Rishi Sunak when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer, and have now passed to Jeremy Hunt, who is very fond of telling everyone that he’s an ‘entrepreneur’.

Animal Farm?
Are we seeing George Orwell’s Animal Farm being played out in British politics?

It was English historian Lord Acton in the 19th century who said,

“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

In that sense, surely 14 years of any government is far too long.
