As mentioned at the Stop The Cuts march on Saturday, the Liberal Democrats on the Island have today released their alternatives to the Conservative budget.
Rather than a full-blown alternative, the LibDem proposals are an amendment to the Independent Group’s Budget proposals released last week.
As detailed in full below, the Liberal Democrats will seek to scrutinise the viability of the proposed PFI scheme for Island roads, as well as increase the current level of funding for highways maintenance.
Amendment to Waterside Pool
There’s also another amendment being put forward to the council today by four Isle of Wight councillors, Vanessa Churchman, Wayne Whittle, David Knowles and Reg Barry.
They’re proposing that the subsidy for Waterside Pool in Ryde continue for 2011/12, after £100,000 of potential savings have been identified by The Waterside Management Team.
