An email claiming to be from Lidl and offering £500 of vouchers to spend in their shops has been circulating around the Internet today.
Suspicious of the address the email was sent from, OnTheWight got in touch with Lidl’s press office to find out whether this is a genuine offer or a scam to capture personal information from those it’s been sent to.
Lidl: “It is a scam”
A spokesperson from Lidl told OnTheWight,
“I can confirm that this is indeed a scam. We would encourage customers to avoid clicking on the link and to contact our customer service team if they would like to verify the authenticity of any other voucher offers. “
Be vigilant
Emails of this type are a great way for scammers to obtain personal information from you. They suggest an offer and ask you to provide personal information in order to collect the vouchers or discount.
It’s always worth looking closely at the email address and considering whether it looks like it’s legitimate.
