Susan Wilks is a painter and ceramicist living and working in France.
She studied Fine Art in France and England and has exhibited widely presenting many different aspects of her work.
Her current theme is portraiture.
Working mainly in oils and pastels; the gesture or way of applying the paint is very important in the artist’s image making.
Susan’s paintings often represent ‘family histories’; involving symbolic landscapes, objects, animals and other figures to form a narrative or tale of the people portrayed in her imagery.
This exhibition also embraces Susan’s ceramics; representing her surroundings in rural southwest France; the painted pots are a lighter, more decorative and optimistic side of her work.
