At last month’s Ventnor Town Council meeting the loss of beach lifeguards was discussed following the IWC’s decision to no longer fund lifeguards across the Island.
Volunteers involved with the previous success of securing volunteer lifeguards for Ventnor Beach (prior to IWC-paid lifeguards) spoke at the end of the meeting stating that they will take on the task once again.
They now tell us that they’ve identified a full team, got the training plan in place and hopefully funding.
The team includes an internationally recognised fast swimmer in open water.
Hopefully with the volunteer lifeguards in place, Ventnor will be able to retain its Blue Flag for another year.
Well done to all involved. Are we seeing David Cameron’s Big Society at work in Ventnor?
